Bathukamma Fecilitation

Under the brand of Tricolour Group, Tricolour Properties took part in the communal events of Telangana State taken place across UAE, marking the Flower Festival named BATHUKAMMA.

Bathukamma is a colourful floral festival of Telangana and is celebrated by womenfolk with exotic flowers of the region. The festival has over the years become a symbol of Telangana culture and identity. Bathukamma comes during the latter half of monsoon, before the onset of winter.

The Bathukamma celebrations are held throughout the ten days of Dussehra. Bathukamma means ‘Goddess of Life’. Women decorate a special pot with seasonal flowers, fill the pot with offerings to the Goddess, and go on a procession in the village.

The festival heralds the beauty of nature, collective spirit of Telangana people, the indomitable spirit of womenfolk and also the ecological spirit of the agrarian people in preserving the natural resources in a festive way.

Bathukamma went global in 2021 as the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa was lit up in colours depicting the festival. Located in Dubai, Burj Khalifa witnessed a unique show of lights. The visual feast was attributed to the efforts of Telangana Jagruti, a cultural and literary organization that was formed by Ms Kavitha, who is the former Member of Parliament and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has been working to preserve and celebrate the cultural heritage of Telangana had led the festival celebrations global by featuring its depiction on the worlds’ largest screen. The event was attended by Ms Kavitha along with esteemed dignitaries from UAE and India.

Given the global exposure to so called flower festival, expats of Telugu States (Andhra Pradesh & Telangana) have come together to celebrate this festival with immense joy and pride. The culture rich events have seen huge number of women and kids dressed elegantly and danced around the well decorated Bathukamma. At the end of the festival, they immersed the specially arranged flowers called Bathukamma in local ponds.

Tricolour Properties took part in 5 Bathukamma events held at various part of UAE leaving no stone unturned to meet and interact with huge crowd of expats. Telangana Friends Association of Abu Dhabi, Indian People Forum of Ajman, Emirates Telangana Cultural Association of Ajman and Gulf Telangana Culture and Welfare Association of Dubai had organized Bathukamma on 1st and 2nd October and Tricolour proudly announces its participation in the same.  Tricolour Group honoured the organizers of the events with a memento encouraging their efforts in making the event a grand success.
